Interdisciplinary Core & Required Courses (31 cr total)

Required Core Courses (12 credits)
  • GWSS 5103 Feminist Pedagogies
  • GWSS 8108 Feminist Theories and Methods I
  • GWSS 8109 Feminist Theories and Methods II
  • GWSS 8997 Feminist Research & Writing (taken while doing thesis research and/or writing)

Required Colloquia (4 credits)
  • GWSS 8996 Feminist Studies Colloquia (1cr per semester)
    One credit is awarded per each of four semesters for attendance and written reflections on weekly colloquia presentations. We recommend that students fulfill this requirement in the first two years of graduate work.

  • Socio-Cultural Diversity (6 credits)

Feminist Studies Ph.D. students must choose 3 credits from the following list of courses. The remaining 3 credits may come either from this list or students may propose another course that will provide research methods or tools relevant to their specific focus of study. All substitutions must be approved by the DGS.
